Immigrant Punk : Gogol Bordello Inspirations

If you haven't already heard Gogol Bordello, now is the time. They are an amazing Gypsy punk band (and lead singer Eugene Hutz was impressive in Everything is Illuminated).

I love the fashion, the lifestyle and the complete and utter madness. Feeling it too? Here are some Gogol Bordello / Gypsy Punk inspired pieces to get you started:

These are insanely gorgeous.  Dark Mystic Earrings by PixiE GlamouR.

Gold Hammer & Sickle Necklace seen on SupermarketHQ

"Start Wearing Purple, Wearing Purple...." (Fave GB song)
Such a pretty and comfortable dress by Gypsy05

Ridiculously more comfortable than heels - I adore these handwoven strap hippie shoes from Jildor Shoes.

The Gypsy Kiss offers How-Tos and Links for amazing Gypsy fashion including this SteamPunk Hat above.

And Finally....

Since you know I can't resist anything Hello Kitty - how much does this shirt rock? Sadly it is sold out but Jester Funny Books has many other great products as well.

Well Hello There!

Wow it has been way too long since I have been able to post here. With my laptop AND work computer broken at the same time things got crazy, but I am happy to be able to start a new month with everything working perfectly. And so without further ado, today's Thursday Etsy Treasury is all about coming back and saying Hello!

I like that it kind of looks like stick figure people creating the letters.
Hi Mini Greeting Necklace by Joanna Rutter

Yeah I am a total Twitter geek (@Emilyontheave) and this card by Honizukle thrills me because it is absolutely adorable and they are Twitter birds!

This "Hello Friend" print by John W. Golden is a comment on the lost art of conversation. Such a cool piece, I think I need to add this to my "WANT" list.

Hee Hee This is absolutely how a conversation between a taco and a pineapple should go.
The Aloha Hola Shirt by Monkey Fish Dezigns.

So girly and cute. Someone should send me one of these Oh Hello! cards by Bella Card Co.

Fashion illustrations have always enthralled me but I am especially drawn to this beauty's hair and eyes. Such a great print. Bonjour by Courtney Oquist.

And finally....

If you follow this blog you know I am a fan of all things glittery, pink and girly. Combine all three and you get the ultimate in all things "Hello" related - HELLO KITTY.

If everyone I know chips in, maybe this can be my 30th birthday gift (So close - July 11th is the big day!).
This Hello Kitty inspired sofa by Mark Stratis is my new most coveted item.
$1600 not including the woman in pasties.

The Good Old Summertime

June 1st is officially noted as being "Children's Day" or "Stand Up for Children Day" both in the United Stated as well as internationally and yet this is the first year that I even knew about it.  Believe me I would have exploited it for gifts somehow back when I was a kid. For me, June 1st marks the start of summer and so today I have for you a variety of summer themed items for children:

Paola Lakimi captures all the best parts of summer in this sweet print.

You can't go wrong with this monkey in a teeny weeny pink bikini from Twinkle Kids 2.

Ensure your baby's cool factor with this felt Surfs Up Mobile by Pink Perch.

For hippie kid chic, no one does it better than Art & Soul. I don't have kids yet, but I buy gifts here all the time. Everything is unique and absolutely precious.

What is better than spending a summer day relaxing in a hammock? Robyna's ZaZa Recycled Baby and Children's Hammocks are upcycled using vintage fabrics are a calming summer treat.

And finally, while I normally try to promote small businesses and handcrafted items, I am in love with Pottery Barn Kid's Beach Ball Sprinkler Toy and I just have to share it with you.

I kind of want one....or three....in the corner of my yard for my BBQ party...

Windmill Mania

I fell in love with windmills when we took a tour of Amsterdam's countryside to see tulip fields, a cheese auction, clog makers and huge, powerful and absolutely beautiful windmills.  I guess many other people are fascinated by them as well because today is

Of course the Netherlands aren't the only ones with windmills. As a matter of fact, according to the U.S. Energy Information Association reported that as of 2008 the United States ranked first in the world in wind power capacity. Here are some items that celebrate windmills in all shapes, sizes and locations:

Such a cute mug by Bella Joy Pottery. On the flip side are skyscrapers and they call this their "Are you a city mouse? Or a country mouse?" mug.

This card by einnej is definitely for a country mouse but it is such beautiful papercut art that even a city mouse would find it chic.

Promote alternative energy with this Wind Farm Shirt by Happy Family.

Pamela J's Vintage Windmill Pendant is gorgeous. I love the look on the lady's face and the rainbow of colors make me smile.

Blow away the other throw pillows with Dwell in Style's Hand Printed "Wind Power" Pillow.

And finally here are some of my favorite windmill paintings:

Fiesta Infusion

I love Cinco de Mayo -  Mexican traditions, vibrant colors, music you can't help but dance to, tons of delicious food you can't help but eat and an excuse to drink margaritas in the afternoon....I wonder if Seis de Mayo has an inferiority complex....

Why limit the fun to one day? Below are items to help you infuse a little fiesta in the other 364 days of the year.

This vintage 70's Mexican Embroidered Dress from Hellhound Vintage is fantastic.
Her shoes are spot-on too. Love them.

This piece by Savi is crafty and cozy and glitzy and beaded - like a drag queen grandma made me a necklace. I absolutely adore it.

Um...is there anything better than a penguin in a sombrero? Even the baby with half a face can't deter from the cute factor of this Cinco de Mayo Toddler Shirt from Zazzle

Wholesale Bar Supplies sells Glassware inspired table and chair sets.
Imagine 365 days of Margarita Magnifico in your kitchen.

From the flower in her hair to her great rack, AnitaMargarita by Details Art is fabulous.

And of course, I can't talk about Mexican art without mentioning the Goddess of all things Glitter:
Kathy Cano-Murillo - The Crafty Chica. Kathy is an artist, a writer, a creator and an inovator.
I could go on for hours about her blog, her books, her crafters cruise - but if you're looking to add a little Mexican flair to your home - look no further than the incredible Crafty Chica Etsy store which features products by Kathy and her husband Patrick.

Happy Cinco de Mayo!
